Overview / Responsibilities

Wood is currently searching for a Subsea Control Engineer with a minimum of five(5) years experience within the subsea controls discipline and a minimum of ten (10) years of professional engineering experience in oil and gas, aerospace, or marine engineering fields. This position is in support of Client's off-shore facility and is based out of Wood's Houston, TX office. Traveling to the offshore facility may be required as necessary. While this is a temporary position that is projected to close at the end of January, it could extend out to the end of 2023.

Due to the nature of the role, we will only consider local applicants who have a uthorization to work lawfully in the US without sponsorship from Wood.

Key Responsibilities:
  • This role will work on directions and priorities from GoM Subsea Squad Lead and facility Subsea System Ops Lead Engineer and receive support and guidance from Sr. Subsea Controls Engineer or designated Controls Discipline SPA
  • Manage and lead the assessment of Subsea Controls operational anomalies and perform troubleshooting activities, perform engineering calculation, facilitate risk assessment, and lead mitigation actions
  • Monitor and maintain the health of Subsea Controls System
  • Lead RCFA on failures of Subsea Controls System
  • Manage interface between projects subsea controls, offshore team, and other disciplines
  • Manage interface with Client's central subsea systems team and SPS vendors
  • Ensure that software and subsea controls project delivery targets are met by following activity plan criteria, risk management plans, and management of change requirements
  • Lead efforts in interlock and alarm management plans and actions for assigned area
  • Contribute CI and Standardization Projects on Subsea Controls System across GoM
  • Provide support to overall Subsea IM Plan and strategies

Skills / Qualifications

Job Requirements:
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience subsea controls discipline AND Minimum of 10 years of professional engineering experience in oil and gas, aerospace, or marine engineering related fields
  • Must be able self-efficient in multi-task and set priorities without directions from others
  • Must be able to work in a team environment and contribute controls technical discussions
  • Proficient in writing engineering procedure and reports
  • Proficient in MS office ( word, excel, powerpoint, visio), MS Windows and use of basic networking tools
  • Ability to review and understand electrical schematic and controls P&IDs, control logics, hydraulic and electrical analysis
  • Have worked offshore and is able and willingness to travel by helicopter or boat to offshore facilities when needed
  • Demonstrate the ability to problem solve and fault finding on systems that are currently installed, identify potentially operating ineffectively
  • Able and willingness to support 24/7 on call support from offshore team

Preferred Experience and Qualifications:
  • Experience with TFMC Control System Experience in subsea controls in some or all aspects of design, construction, operation, maintenance, integrity management
  • Familiar with power and communication calculations in vendor analysis report
  • Familiar with hydraulic system calculations in vendor analysis report
  • Familiar with Client's organization and process
  • Familiar with Client's offshore facilities
  • Have a positive track record of delivery technical solution and perform engineering task on Subsea Control Systems.
